Labcorp commuter benefits

Whether you take a train, bus, rideshare or pay for your parking spot, if you are eligible for these benefits you can save on costs.

Commuter benefits overview

The money you spend on your work commuting expenses can be deducted from your paycheck pretax, within IRS limits. This means you can save up to $2,000 a year, depending on your tax situation.

Eligible expenses include buses, trains, subways, ferries, vanpools and even shared ride services. If your plan includes parking, you can also pay for parking near your work or at your commuting lot.

Answers to common questions about commuter benefits

There is no need to complete any enrollment forms. Simply sign in to your online account, order your transit or parking, and your passes or vouchers will be mailed directly to you. Your monthly purchase will be deducted automatically from your paycheck. This is a monthly benefit, and changes can be made monthly (before the 10th of each month), or you may set up your account to process recurring benefits in the same amount/delivery method.

The amount that you spend on transit or parking can be paid for with pretax money. When you order transit and parking online, the value of your order is automatically deducted from your paycheck. Your yearly taxable income is reduced by the amount of your purchase. For tax years beginning after January 1, 2023, the IRS allows up to $300 a month pretax for transit expenses and up to $300 a month pre-tax for parking expenses. Any amount requested above the $300 monthly limit becomes a post-tax transaction, which can be paid using your personal credit card to complete the transaction. Please note, if your personal credit card is declined, your entire order will not process.

Assuming a total tax rate of 30%, if you spend $300 on transit and $300 on parking each month, you can save $2,160 per year.

Eligible transit expenses include:

  • Buses
  • Trains and subways

  • Vanpools
